About

I was born in Yorkshire and trained there as a teacher, where my main subject was art. In 2000 I moved to New Zealand and in 2003 took a year out to study fine art at the Auckland University majoring in painting, mainly oils. I now paint full time and have continued to work with exceptional teachers which have included Lyn Diefenbach (Australia) and Richard McKinley (USA).

Over the past two years I have expanded the media I use to include soft pastels as well as acrylic and oil. I find the bright vibrant colours of the pure pigment, held in the pastel only with a little binder, exciting for their immediacy.

My work is representational, reflecting the world around me through landscape, flora and fauna. I have work in collections in the UK and New Zealand.

Look around the site or call for an appointment - visitors always welcome to view my work in Kerikeri.
